Lone Kauri Construction completed a huge year long restoration project with me in 2014. The house was an original weatherboard bunglalow in the Waitakere ranges, with local historic significance, so attention to detail and craftsmanship was paramount.
I could not have asked for a better crew. Their experience, professionalism and humour made what could have been a nightmare into a fantastic learning journey.
The work undertaken was huge - and became more huge as we progressed and discovered more damage. In the end, over 70% of the weatherboards were replaced, more than half of the windows were rebuilt or replaced, 4 decks were built, flat lawn areas were created with beautifully curved timber retaining walls, meters of drainage laid and the driveway was completely reconstructed. What is most impressive about this is that the majority of the work was completed perfectly without any detailed plans. All Ezra had to go off was my scribbles and rambling discussions with him about what I wanted - and he nailed it!
I cannot fault their work or their skills and found them to be more than builders - they are craftsmen passionate about what they do and how they do it. In addition, they also put up with having me as an "apprentice" and were more than willing to share their knowledge with me. While always professional, the way they work is very much team based, and that team includes their clients when relevant.

Lone Kauri built a fence at my Kingsland property in 2015. While a fence might seem easy and straightforward, this one certainly wasn't.
Given the incline of the section and my desire to have a 'not boring ugly fence' Ezra and the team carefully measured and planned the best approach to create a stepped fence in even balanced sections.
These are not rip shit and bust builders and digger drivers - they are careful, precise and efficient, and have an amazing ability to think on their feet and problem solve - essential when again they are working without plans.
